Eero: "Hello from The Rasmus rehearsal room, where we just ended our Dead Letters Tour rehearsal.
And I'm super excited about these songs that we get to play: 'Back In The Picture', 'The One I Love' 'Funeral Song', 'Not Like The Other Girls'. They're versions from the album, and they sound very very good. And I'm very proud and very excited about this whole concept.
And we're also gonna have very beautiful visuals for this, a huge video screen for this whole tour.

Kaaoszine interv, Vid. I: "So the next tour, that you are starting soon. Can you tell me something about that?"
Lauri: "Yeah, it's quite special. We are going to play Dead Letters, the album, in whole. And we also have ten songs, voted by the fans, that we’re gonna to play as well.
But it's kind of like, a special show, because we're gonna have big LED screens, and video stuff, video content from the past, going along with the music on stage. And we're going through a lot of old material, right now. I found like 20 cassettes, of the past, like saying like: Home Party, 2003 Ruisrock Gig, 2007 Tour Bus Life, bla bla, you know. And so, we're checking out there, the old material from those times. And we want to bring those visuals, that once were very like a present to that time, and to our style and image, back to the stage. And it's gonna be really great, I hope."

Vid. I: "Can you tell me something about the songwriting process for The Rasmus?"
Lauri: "Yeah, well - Let's say right now, I've written a bunch of stuff at home in LA. I've been very creative this year, I wrote like 15 songs. And with all the lyrics and everything. And those are just raw pieces, but they have pretty clear ideas in them."
Vid. I: "Do you think that it has changed, the songwriting process, when you moved to LA?"
"I don't think it has changed that much. I mean, the important thing is that we realized what we are good at. He's good at that stuff, and I have my melodies, and my lyrics, and stuff. So, you know, we just have to find a way to put them, those two, two together. And of course the guys arranging, and together, making it sound like The Rasmus."
Vid. I: "Do you guys have a theme for this next album, or is it still..?"
Lauri: "We have a NAME for the album. We have a lot. But we don't have the songs!"
"Problem. Normal. But, you know, it's fine. But, what I said: you have to have the vision, you have to have the goal. There's a name of the album already. If you have the style in your mind, if you have, like, ideas, that's the start you need, and the music will come."
Aki: "But we have, we have the music also, little, a little bit of it. We have, like, really nice ideas on the tape already. Not like the final stuff but, you know, some demos."

In the Shadows - the hit made the band international. The men vividly remember the story of the giant hit.
Aki: "We were doing a soundcheck in Vaasa. The rest of us had eaten, and Lauri stayed in the stern. Guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi had a riff - an idea we started jamming with. Then this one (Ylönen) comes spaghetti in his mouth to say that he would have the perfect idea for the melody. The first version was assembled in a quarter."
The men are clearly excited about the upcoming tour. Ylönen's anger turns to smile as he explains the plans he has already made.
Lauri: "Even though it is a club tour, it has the feel of a stadium concert as it will be a spectacle. The concept is scripted from start to finish. Sure, there's room for maneuver."
The Rasmus is currently working on a new album that is due out next year. It is followed by a live gig, which is better for musicians than anything else. Ylönen says he will be happy to play for the next 20 years if there is only a chance. Retiring soloist does not want to.
Lauri: "We have played in about 70 countries, but there are many places that we have not been able to reach. There is still something to conquer."

Post, Link. The first single by TR, '1st', was released in December 1995. To collect the money for it they had posted advertisements all around the city for Orange. The job was done at nights, with cold hands, and being afraid of policemen. In February 1996 Rasmus made a record-deal with multi-national giant-company The Warner.
People in the festivals were going nuts about the trumpet-funk and got all exited about our own 'Red Hot Chili Peppers'. On 'Soundi' interview thet both did not like the comparisons to Red Hot Chili Peppers, because Eero though that they were better than them.. And Lauri, in a 'Rumba' interview said that they are better than the Beatles..
After the third album release 'Hell Of a Tester', the band was quiet a long time. The drummer changed. Aki Hakala who had earlier played with Kwan and Killer got to sit behind the drum-kit. He got comments about changing his place to a dieing band. Lauri got mad. "I was like I will show them, f*** it, lets do some new songs. When we got a new deal, it restored the self-confidence." With the new deal he means a contract with a Swedish-record company, the Playground Music. That was the turning point of the Rasmus. The band added the 'the' to their band name and simplified their music, decided to concentrate on the things they were good at, strong melodies based with rock.
Behind our backs is Suutarila's wastehill, that is also one of the important places in Lauri's youth. Lauri tells how he made a nostalgic Suutarila-tour with his friend Esa. "The most real and genuine people live here. I've met half-familiar people a lot. They're usually nice company for a short while but I haven't gotten many real new friends during the past ten years." According to Teja Kotilainen, Lauri has build even thicker wall around himself after the band started to succeed. He says it's difficult for Lauri to trust new people. Lauri tells he has been previously too gullible and trusting. "There is a lot of double-dealing. You feel you can't tell anyone too much about your dreams. I have become more careful. It would be good to be more forgiving."
Basist Eero Heinonen is putting his equipment together in the recording room. He's about to start his own part. It's almost six o'clock. The Rasmus' work moral is tough, they come to the studio at 9 am and they won't leave before six or seven pm. "In the evenings we have usually eaten candy and went to bed at 9:30 or 10 pm. Really rock 'n' roll!"
