Text: Domestic EDM scenes's freshest newcomer Tom & Hills released their new single "No Brakes" on May 23.
The Duo's members Ramon and Pete told Channel 4's (Nelonen) entertaiment news about their backrounds and music they have already released. They both are old stagers of dance music wich have done lot of singles on their own careers.
What kind of music Tom & Hills does and how much Ramon's father, legendary Dj Alimo from Beats and Styles has influenced duo's music? What's their opion on commercial music?

Reporter: "Tom & Hills, Ramon and Pete, your debut single is released May 23, How are your feelings right now?"
R: "The spirit is great, this is the first big project. Feels good."
P: "I'm little nervous even though I have done many years of music. After all, it's nice to do music with someone professional. Lauri I mean."

Reporter: "What is the history of Tom & Hills? How did all get started?"
P: "This goes back in beginning of the 2000's when I met his father. Through is father I met Ramon when he was like 5 years old. You started making music in age of 9. When he was 13 years old I started to get first demos from him 'Can you listen this? How does it sound?'. When he was 15 years old, he started to be so good that I just had to team up with him. Because otherwise he would have gone on his own ways!"

Reporter: "You have long musical history. What you have had a chance to do?"
P: "I have done years Synthwave. Synthwave is small sub-genre of dance music. Not many have heard of it.
Perhaps the greatest example would be soundtrack of Movie Drive where is."
R: "Kavinsky."
P: "Yes Kavinsky-like music. In USA I have been on small underground label that has released my music!"

Reporter: "Ramon you have also musical background. Your father is Dj Alimo, he is known from famous finnish dance music group Beats and Styles. How much have you been influenced by my father's music?"
R: "0%. I have not been influenced by his music. Influences come from neighboring countries such as Sweden.
I have released music in Australia. This is my 6th single. I have received good feedback from Avicii's label and (Swedish House Mafia's) Axwell's Axtone records. They both wanted me to go there. Now Universal Music picked us up and it's a good thing. Everything is well now."

Reporter: "EDM is guaranteed to be one of the biggest genres in music business. In Finland there are a lot of producers also.
Where is the Tom & Hills place in there?"
R: "Hard question..."
P: "Our main product is radio-friendly music. On each song there will be featuring singer, because it works on radio.
Remixes and other mixes are purely club music. Music that we play on our gigs is very different than our radio versions."

Reporter: "Final question, commercialism, or your own music?"
P: "You can combine both if you do it by heart."
R: "We don't do music for the money, we do it because we love it. And when making music comes from heart, everything goes well."

Quando l'ho ascoltata ora mi è venuto in mente Lauri mentre guida un'astronave, ufo

cose spaziali. Anche un video fuori di testa così con i marziani sarebbe simpatico. Lo riporta a casa su Marte.. o l'ET gli ruba l'astronave mozzicandolo e lui lo insegue.. o il contrario.. :lol:

Entra dentro a un videogioco mentre ci sta giocando, diventa un pilota di F1. Con questi ritmi si possono immaginare tante cose, speriamo riusciranno a farne uno.

Mannaggia ai budget del cavolo; la Universal non può aiutarli in nessun modo a realizzarne uno del genere con effetti speciali in uno studio? Un'auto-astronave con tutti schermi verdi intorno come hanno fatto con "October & April".

Se ne fanno uno buffo con i marziani io rido per 3 secoli.. :lol:

Un video divertente sarebbe molto adatto alla canzone, mette allegria.

Lauri: "When I first time listened the song at hotelroom, I instantly felt like summer. Outside there was heavy snow storm, but the song made me at good mood.
Melodies just came up to my mind very quickly, lyrics also. Then I made some rough demo with my laptop, sended the file to guys, ideas just started flowing between us. Song became life by itself."

Lauri: "Quando ho ascoltato per la prima volta la canzone nella stanza d'albergo, ho sentito immediatamente come se fosse Estate. Fuori c'era una forte tempesta di neve, ma la canzone mi ha messo di buon umore.
Le melodie mi sono venute in mente molto rapidamente, anche il testo. Poi ho fatto una demo grezza sul mio PC portatile, ho inviato il file ai ragazzi, le idee sono iniziate a scorrere tra di noi. La canzone ha preso vita da sola."

"Tu devi ricevere in continuazione offerte da varie parti, perché hai scelto i Tom & Hills?"

Sono sempre in giro in Tour, ogni anno. Sarà l'unico gruppo che non si ferma mai. :rules:

Poi ci sono anche le varie collaborazioni come questa per Lauri con i Tom & Hills ed i progetti a parte, come per Pauli con la DGTLNative ed Eero con i suoi film e Documentari vari (Topic).
Sono moolto impegnati. Un nuovo album dei The Rasmus per quest'anno non è previsto, però ci stanno lavorando cmq su. :up:
