There are stories that every generation should tell themselves. The present does not erase history, but certain things fade away and are left in the background.
Aku Louhimies' The Unknown Soldier, which premiers on the 100th anniversary of our country becoming independent, is faithful to the original novel by Väinö Linna. The script is also partly based on Linna's Sotaromaani, which is the original version of The Unknown Soldier. The novel, originally released in 1954, and translated into 23 languages is a story of a platoon of ordinary Finnish soldiers in the battlefield between Finland and the Soviet Union during the Second World War.
"It is great to be involved in a film interpretation specifically based on Väinö Linna's Sotaromaani – not simply repeating an earlier film version, but doing our completely own version and artistic vision of this story that is so important to Finns." says Eero Aho, who plays Rokka in the film.
The shooting starts in June 2016 and will continue through autumn, and during Winter 2017 the winter scenes will be shot. Set locations include Karjalan prikaati in Vekaranjärvi, in Kotka-Hamina area, in Helsinki and in North Karelia. By the end of 2017 the story will once again be shared with the world – everyone from young audiences to those old enough to have been on the front, or the home front themselves.

Come eccezione rispetto ai video precedenti che i The Rasmus hanno fatto, questo è stato realizzato con un budget basso, perché è stato pianificato molto poco ed il risultato è simile ad un Documentario. Aku Louhimies, uno dei registi più noti della Finlandia, ha diretto il nuovo video dei The Rasmus.

"Abbiamo filmato di notte, così siamo stati in piedi a lungo ed anche per questo eravamo un po' pazzi," continua Aku.
Il gruppo di persone non conosceva per nulla in anticipo quello che le riprese sarebbero state. L'insieme di persone e l'idea sono state tutte inventate, ma il permesso per le riprese non è stato chiesto, ed anche una sceneggiatura molto precisa.
A Lauri è stato dato un vistoso abito da Re, in cui ha camminato per le vie di Singapore ricevendo diverse reazioni dalla gente.
"Le persone che riprendevano erano nascoste, ed hanno ripreso le reazioni della gente. Sicuramente nei tunnel della metropolitana eravamo tipo inseguiti, visto che in questi luoghi è proibito filmare. Ma anche quello è stato molto normale," ride Lauri.
"E' stato davvero fantastico filmare un video con questo gruppo. Non era un video o un progetto normale," dice Aku.
Molto solo?
Il video musicale è stato realizzato per la bellissima canzone 'Stranger'. Il personaggio principale della storia è un Re, che vaga nel mondo tra la gente da solo. Lauri dice che parte delle sensazioni nel video musicale sono le sue.
"Il Re porta la sua corona, ma nessuno la vede a causa dei vestiti. Ci sono tutte cose fantastiche, vestiti e corona, ma lui è ancora solo. Forse vuole a volte sbarazzarsi di questo," descrive Lauri.
I due uomini si sono appena incontrati ed hanno avuto modo di conoscersi solo in viaggio.
"Ho fatto alcuni video musicali prima, ma questo era diverso. Siamo diventati amici durante il viaggio e stiamo progettando di continuare a lavorare insieme", promette Aku.
